If you’re thinking of becoming a freelancer or are in the process of it, you might be wondering how to get started. Well, the most urgent issue you need to address is how to get set up as a business, so you can start working at creative agencies.
This generally means sorting out tax and legal issues and it’s important to get this done right from the start – you can’t just start freelancing and then sort it out later or wait for a bill from the tax man at the end of the year.
There are many ways of doing it and each country has it’s own rules and regulations, so I’m going to do a series of articles for the options in each country. I’m starting with the UK as this is where I’m based. I’m currently compiling information on the US and Australia for future articles:
(These links will become active when I post the articles)
Setting yourself up as an agency freelancer: UK
Setting yourself up as an agency freelancer: USA
Setting yourself up as an agency freelancer: Australia
Hopefully we will also be doing articles on other countries in the future – if anyone has information on setting up elsewhere please get in touch so we can include it here.
