These days it’s more important than ever to be seen online as a freelancer. Being active online and showing that you are professional and have good skills makes a huge difference if someone is ‘checking you out’ or searching for a freelancer. They also need to be able to find information on you quickly.

This option gives you total control, but takes time and a bit of money to set up and maintain.
Get a free online portfolio
There are some excellent places on the web where you can easily display your work and a profile, and with some you can also interact with other members.
Make a LinkedIn profile
More important for non-creatives who don’t have a work portfolio – this site is like Facebook for business.
